Nosara Surf Academy is a leading surf school located in Playa Nosara, in the Nicoya Peninsula, Province of Guanacaste on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. The school features a variety of exclusive packages providing surf lessons and accommodations. Nosara Surf Academy has a simple goal. They want their students to master the art of wave riding and to provide their guests with the best possible surf expeditions. The staff consists of professional surf instructors who are all International Surfing Association (ISA) Certified, CPR, First Aid, and Open Water Rescue Certified. They make sure students learn all the necessary skills safely and have an awesome time at the same time. Vacationers can sign up for the lessons through the website, by placing the call or while they can proffer from a walk in package while they are in the city. It is better if you book yourself a spot in advance. Between the surf sessions, guests can enjoy a wide range of other fun activities like zip lining, canopy tours, ocean kayaking, sportfishing, waterfall trekking, horseback riding, ATV tours, Yoga, diving and plenty of more thrilling activities.

Surf Lessons with Nosara Surf Academy

The school usually holds surf classes in the morning from 7 to 10 am or in the afternoon from 2 to 5 pm. Depending upon the waves Nosara Surf Academy 1and weather conditions, class’s time can be changed. The sessions are broken down into three types according to the student’s skills.

Beginner Surf Classes

The classes are for those of you who are new to surfing or have never ridden a wave before. The instructors focus on the basics of the sports, equipment, history, crowd management, ocean safety and surfing vocabulary. The students will gradually learn how to paddle, sit on the board and stand on the surf board. The classes are strictly restricted to the whitewater.

Advanced Beginner Lessons

After a few beginner surf classes when students have learned the basics, the classes move to a new level. During these sessions, students are taught and encouraged to pick up the waves on their own and ride them without falling off. Students will also learn how to maneuver the surf board in the water. Once you have perfected the wave riding, it will be time to level up.

Intermediate Surf Lessons

During intermediate lessons, the students are taught how to paddle outside the safety zone, how to position yourself in the waves, wave judgment and how to ride the wave on the open part of the wave. The classes are challenging but with patience and time, it gets easier.

Nosara Surf academy films all of your surf classes. The footage is utilized in the video review sessions where the student’s moves and mistakes are reviewed and analyzed. The videos have proved to be great for improvement. The camp also holds a digital photo-session of surfing lessons every morning so back at home; you can show off your surfing skills to your friends.
