Description

Playa Doña Ana is in North Puntarenas on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The waves of Playa Dona Ana are rather demanding luring numerous surf enthusiasts from all over the globe. The beach features a point break that goes to the left breaking over a flat rocky sand bottom. The waves are very consistent, fast and create ledges frequently. The break is easy on the outside which gets gradually faster and challenging. The waves ride up to a long distance of about 500 meters! The best time to surf is during a low to mid tide with swells coming from the south and southwest. Due to the presence of many rocks and strong rip currents, the spot is potentially risky. Only experienced surfers should ride here. The beach is super crowded most of the time.

The areas surrounding Playa Dona Ana are perfect for visitors seeking more adventures and fun. The major towns of Puntarenas are located nearby the beach and tourists can readily access them. There are several Tico restaurants, bars and sodas that serve all sorts of delicious cuisines.
