Surf Adventures in Nosara

Nosara

Nosara is a coastal city located in the Nicoya Peninsula, Province of Guanacaste on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Nosara is one of oldest agricultural and fishing communities of Costa Rica and even though it is a holiday hot spot, it lacks any direct development and still retains its Blue Flag status. The renowned beaches, Playa Nosara, Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada, and Playa Ostional, are sparkling clean bordered by crystal clear water. The beaches offer a wide range of fun and sporty activities. The shorelines house a large population of Olive Ridley and Leatherback Turtles that resulted in a formation of Ostional Wildlife Refuge for the protection of the species. The main pursuit of Nosara is surfing, Yoga and sportfishing.

On the northern side, Playa Pelada has a rocky reef break but it is not very consistent and the beach is very crowded. North to Playa Nosara, Playa Ostional is situated featuring a reef break which is best ridden during the high tides.

Playa Guiones is a famous surf spot. It has a beach break that offers one of the most consistent waves in the country. The waves are Nosara 1usually 2 to 6 feet in height. The beach is clean shimmering with white sand and weather condition is just right for riding the waves! The waves are gentle and smooth which makes them ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers. During the low tides, the waves are more steep and fast perfect for short boarders while during the mid to high tides, the waves are smooth so the long boarders will have a fine time.
